AVgas

A high-octane fuel used for aircraft and, in the past, racing cars. Avgas is an abbreviation for aviation gasoline, as distinguished from Mogas (motor gasoline), which is the everyday gasoline used in cars. Avgas has a lower volatility than mogas and does not evaporate as quickly, which is important for high-altitude use.

Group

A term used by different air forces for a unit of command. The size of this unit varies considerably between different countries. It is also a multi-enterprise firm that draws its capital from sources extending beyond a single nuclear family. In addition somewhat like the zaibatsu in pre-World War II Japan, the Groups invest and produce in several product markets rather than in a single product line. Groups in fact constitute a mechanism for mobilizing and pooling entrepreneurship and technical expertise as well as capital in large-scale, modern activities.
